Sweet Imperfections – Be Brave (2022)
Leading the US-based band Sweet Imperfections, Schillings performs alongside a collective of Southern California’s most talented musicians. Following the track ‘Wings’, Sweet Imperfections adopts a soft, soothing tone in the new single ‘Be Brave’. A melodic combination of drums, guitar and Schilling’s dulcet vocals, ‘Be Brave’ sends you floating on a sonic cloud. Wistful and whimsical, the track elegantly expresses Schilling’s love of letting the music flow and lead us through the hazy ambience. Interestingly enough, while there is a gentle flow to the song, it seems to have a complexity in its overall arrangement.
Have you ever stared across the empty blue sky and wondered how thrilling it would be to soar up high? I think anybody would, so with the magic and elevated tension of “Wings” Bri Schillings and Sweet Imperfections truly showcases a musical performance that is resolute. We first grip ourselves for flight with some light piano chords. Our fluttering hearts approach the edge to take that leap of faith, this is when the crescendo of the track mixed with an orchestral rock vibe uplifts us to taste the clouds.
Bri’s voice has such an emotive drive behind it. She intentionally says each line with the sentiment behind it, this is what a seasoned artist sounds like indeed. The magnetic pull of each word from the song feels truly special. I like how Bri’s words have a dash of encouragement in them, and the song title fits perfectly with its motivational intent. There’s beauty in this mad world of ours, and Bri Schillings with Sweet Imperfections show us that we are infinite through “Wings”.

Bri Schillings was once in a dark place, deep within the realms of a life-threatening eating disorder and nothing to look forward to.
It was the music that pulled her back in to a positive outlook and to this day, the San Diego-based singer-songwriter can safely declare it basically saved her and taught her how to love again. Greatly inspired, her and a collective of Southern California’s most talented writers and musicians under the moniker “Sweet Imperfections” have released an aptly titled debut album called ‘ME Is Better With WE,’ which features the single “Deeper To The Core. ”The Music Bugle had the opportunity to talk with Schillings about the album and more.

Sweet Imperfections has today released their new video for the track titled ‘Deeper to the Core’. An absolutely gorgeous piano riff kicks off what I consider a subtle punch to the feels with a stellar song that I personally needed to hear today. Personal things aside, ‘Deeper to the Core’ is a song that anyone can relate to and will become a companion for those times when you really need one. Having said that, I really need to thank Bri and Co. for that needed introspection and call for reflection with a song that soothes the soul and seals a hurting heart. The song builds like a slow burn and a crescendo building to a hopeful conclusion.

Singer-songwriter Bri Schillings and her band Sweet Imperfections have recognized this fundamental clash of attitudes in their latest single “Gently Not Judgingly,” an epically emotional ballad that can’t help but move you.

SWEET IMPERFECTION VIDEO PREMIER BY JAMERZINE.COM BY RYAN MARTIN
Sweet Imperfections has today released their new video for the track titled ‘Gently Not Judgingly’. Written from the perception of a person in the state of rare reflectiveness, ‘Gently Not Judgingly’ gives a much needed perspective on the current state of affairs. The lyrics state the painfully obvious in that we need to listen not loathe and relate not berate.
The video is a lovingly crafted masterpiece that may end up as a timestamp for the last few years. Everyone has a voice, yes, but everyone also has a responsibility. The voice is but a tool for that responsibility. Do we use it to right wrongs? Right the wrongs in us? Or simply write more wrongs. This is a song and video that touched me personally. Thank you, Bri.
